First, I am a daughter of the King – a sinner saved and redeemed because of Jesus. I am a wife to my amazing husband of almost 12 years and a stay at home mom to five precious and active children ages 8 and under (which also leads me to be chef, nurse, teacher, trash collector, housekeeper, historian, counselor, referee, and activities director.) I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a neighbor, and a friend. Some of my bright spots are found by spending time with the people I love, traveling, bargain shopping (especially CVSing), talking about adoption, playing with spreadsheets (yes, I know I’m strange), and creating a home that is a peaceful respite from this crazy world.
1/19/10 - I tell my girlfriends our conclusion is, "God will just have to put a baby on our doorstep!" I arrive home and there's a Facebook message that orphans from Haiti will be one hour away by the end of the week and need homes!
1/20/10 - Haiti orphan dead end. We feel discouraged and begin seriously researching other options. Still feel led nowhere. More discouragement.
1/27/10 - Girlfriend mentions a new adoption seminar
1/28/10 - Girlfriend attends seminar and calls to tell me about Congo. I couldn't sleep. Hubby and I feel instant connection to this place and these children.
2/2/10 - Attend that adoption seminar my girlfriend went to - a local agency doing Congolese adoptions
