Kindergarten

Is my baby really old enough to be in Kindergarten??

Here's Josh on his first official day...
And here's his first completed worksheet:

For those of you interested in the details, we're using Sonlight's Core K with 1st grade readers and Language Arts, Horizons K math, A Reason For Handwriting, and I've ordered The World God Made for science.

I still sometimes can't believe I'm actually homeschooling, but I'm so glad God has called me to this! I am so proud of my excellent student and all he has done so far and I love spending the time with him. I just love snuggling on the couch together with a good book and learning about God's world.

I'm still trying to find the right blend between following a schedule and enjoying the flexibility that homeschooling offers, but otherwise it's going so well.

And at the fair last night when he was reading us the signs?

So incredibly rewarding.

I wouldn't trade it for anything.

wow! Kindergarten already. What a little man he is now you guys. I'm so glad you are loving it. I know what kind of decision it was for you...and for all the materials too! From knowing him since he was 2 and could name all of his different cars AND dinosaurs by NAME! I'm sure he really truly is an excellent student and loves every minute of it. And hearing he could read all the signs by himself brought a smile to my face too! way to go JOSH!

have a great school year!!

What a handsome guy. His dad must be a stud.

I am very proud of both student and teacher!!!!!!!!!!

I'm curious what you did for pre-school. Nate is 3yr and I'm wanting to do something with him this year but I'm not sure what or how much I should do. Any tips?

Hey Wani (and anyone else who is curious),

For preschool when he was 3, we just did a lot of reading books and fun little crafty things. I started out rather ambitious, trying to plan unit studies each week, but quickly got burnt out on all that work! I just got a workbook from Walmart and a few flash cards and we learned letters, numbers, shapes, etc., but otherwise we just had fun together.

Blessings,
Missy : )
